Who Is This Kiki Anyway?
Hi! My blog, and my life are an ever-changing work. I am on a quest to live my life happily and vibrantly.
Many times I have found myself coasting through certain phases in my life and I absolutely hate feeling that way. I love working from home but after so many years, I felt I also needed to get out and meet other people – sharpen my skills again in the outside world. I started my search and am now an Office Manager for a property management company during the day. It’s challenging, but the people I work with are wonderful, so I enjoy doing it. However, I am still passionate about working from home. With the economy the way it is and with the way Corporate companies are treating employees that have spent their lives with them. Well, there are no jobs that are “safe” in Corporate America, so it’s good to have a back up plan should something every change. This way you will still always have choices!
I will keep working outside the home – but that’s the great thing about working from home, you can work it around your life. I have Advertising, Real Estate, Retail Management, Restaurant Management and more in my background. I like the more personal connections I make doing Direct Sales and MLM. If you are interested in my business endeavors, either as a client or as a member of my team. Please check out all the links on my blog to learn more about what I do. I can build them via home shows (home parties) and online – so it’s the perfect fit for me at this point in my life.
I have been married to my husband for 22 years now, together for 24. We’ve been through so much over all these years. That’s what marriage is all about – going through the good times & the not so good times – together. The most important thing is we come out on the other side – always together and stronger. Lessons learned, Choices Made.
We have three children – my blessings – each unique and wonderful in their own way. My son is 22 now and my daughters are 19 and 14. It’s a busy household and I love that. My son recently moved out on his own, so yet another adjustment to my lifestyle. I used to tease him and tell him it was time for him to move – but I knew I would miss him. I definitely do.
My 19-year-old is at the age where mom isn’t so bad anymore. I see glimpses of that “you are out of touch attitude” now and then but thankfully we are almost through that and are becoming friends again.
My youngest is my girlie-girl – she loves all things glittery, make up, clothing and all things fashionable in general. She also has no problem letting us know when she is ticked off about something. I am beginning my travels through my third and final teenager! I see that I am now, once again that “out of touch” mom! I love them, they love me (whether they show it or not) and they each make me smile for different reasons.
I think with the 40 year milestone you begin looking at your life and deciding what is important and what isn’t. While I strongly believe the best is yet to come. I also know that life is precious and we should be living it to the very fullest with the time the Lord gives us. In all areas of my life I am still a work in progress – but I know I will get there!
Something else I wanted to make a change with and couldn’t seem to accomplish no matter what I did was my weight, and of course my health plays into that. I decided that I was tired of being fat and overweight – trust me, I am! I hit bumps here and there, but I am determined and I will one day reach that forever out of reach goal of being a normal, healthy weight.
After trying program after program, I decided to create a program that I felt I could live with. I have tried Weight Watchers and every other program on the market – but I hadn’t yet really and truly tried low-carb. On the surface it sounds like a totally unhealthy way to eat; at least it did in my mind. HOWEVER – I was smart and I realized if I didn’t try something soon – I would spend the rest of my life extremely overweight and miserable. I don’t really consider it low-carb even though it definitely is. I don’t sit and eat bacon and eggs all the time. I eat LOTS of fresh veggies along with my protein intake.
I continue to create a plan that works for me – and since October 23, 2006 I have lost 142 pounds and I am much closer to being at my goal. I still struggle, especially since I went back to work – sitting on my backside all day at the office certainly doesn’t help with the weight loss! When I lose focus – some of the pounds slip back on, but I always return and wonder WHY I slipped! I feel so much better without the carbs! I have recently been reading more and more about Paleo – which is still low carb, but it offers some additional tweaks that I think will help me in reaching my final goal.
I am taking it nice and slow, I continue to take steps back here and there, but now, I know I will get there. I am super-excited about that and will be sharing what I do for myself, so those that need some support and ideas can feel free to use them and maybe I can pull support from you as well. For me personally, I am at my best when I go without any refined carbs – which means no sugar, pasta, many of the starchy veggies, and flour. I continue to find new ways to make things work for me.
Not everyone can or has to do my way of eating. I personally believe there are those that can eat whatever they want, there are those that can do refined carbs, there are those that thrive on high-fat and protein, those that thrive on vegetarianism in some fashion, and those that must do low-fat to maintain their health – thank goodness! It makes us all unique. Don’t ever give up the quest to find the right program for you.
I am looking forward to sharing many things within my blog – from the serious stuff to business to the downright silly – life is too short to separate everything and put them each into little boxes – I am choosing to share it all because then you know me – both personally and professionally.
Living Life Vibrantly,
Kiki
